News: Durham Local authority thank you message to MCT- We just had to share!!

Like everyone 2020 has been an extremely difficult year and as a forum, we have had to adapt to a world of online meetings via zoom, Microsoft teams, go meetings plus a few more to add to the frustration.

As part of the parent carer forum, we pride ourselves in taking any issues parent carers have in County Durham and raising it directly with the person/department in charge and that has still been the case this year. We have still been making sure our opinions and voices are heard in the dozens of high-level meetings with the local authority, health & social care, NHS, and other organisations we have attend.

We were overjoyed yesterday to receive an email of thanks for the work we do from Durham Local authorities head of Early Help, Inclusion, and Vulnerable Children Children and Young People’s Services- Martyn Stenton.

The picture is hard to read so below We have typed it up to make it clearer.

Here is what it says-

“As we near the end of the year I’d like to take this opportunity on behalf of the Local Area to thank you for all of your hard work over the last 12 months.  It’s been a very challenging time for everyone adapting to new ways of working but I think we’ve managed to keep up the momentum on the good work that was reflected in the Ofsted and CQC inspection at the beginning of the year.   Which seems like a very long time ago now.

MCT members have been key players in our work across this year representing the views of parents and carers and as always your efforts in working with us have really been appreciated.  Your dedication, flexibility, honesty and patience has been very much appreciated.  The Local Area are very fortunate to have such an involved parent carer forum to work alongside.

So a huge thank you from me on behalf of the Local Area for everything you have done this year, and whilst this festive season will be a different one, I hope that you get the chance to enjoy some family time with loved ones.

From Martyn”
