News: SEND and alternative provision improvement plan

The SEND and alternative provision improvement plan has been published today which is following on from the consultation in 2022.

It sets out the governments plans to change the special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and alternative provision system in England.

The plan explains what the government will do to make sure more children and young people with SEND or in alternative provision get the support they need.

It follows the SEND and alternative provision green paper which was consulted on in March 2022. The plan includes:

• Government responses to the feedback they received
• The improvements the government make as a result of the feedback
• The proposals the government are going to test and review

The roadmap summarises the actions they’ll take to improve the SEND and alternative provision system in England that are set out in the improvement plan.
