Today marks Carers Rights Day 2025, with the theme “Know Your Rights, Use Your Rights”
To all the incredible carers out there, remember you have rights that can help you get the support and break you need.
• Know your right to a Carer’s Assessment. This is key to unlocking essential help.
• Check eligibility for financial help.
• Request or find respite or a carer’s break.
• Find local support groups—you don’t have to do this alone!
Your rights as a carer :-
☆The right to unpaid carer’s Leave.
☆ The right to request flexible working.
☆ The right to ask your GP practice to identify you as a carer.
☆ The right to request a free flu jab.
☆ The right to protection against discrimination or harassment.
☆The right to request a carer’s assessment.
☆The right to be consulted when the person you care for is discharged from hospital.

Reminder of tonight’s informal Parent Carer Evening via Zoom in recognition of Carers Rights Day at 7pm-8pm.
The session will include MCT, SENDIASS, and Durham County Carers Support, who will be available to discuss concerns and answer any questions related to SEND or parent carer support.
Breakout rooms will be available, and, time permitting, you will have the opportunity to ask questions privately if needed.
